I guess now we know what he needed overtime pay for... That looks like a nice ring.
UCS from yesterday's strip is, as some have guessed, the United Confederate States (which Krelle alluded to back on page 3). Because if Canada is breaking up in my dystopian future world, so is the U.S.A., damn it! There is the U.C.S., the Free American States, and Texas.
Page 6 already. Woah. My teachers always told me to act out what I was drawing. You have to get in your character’s head and then act how they would, then try and pick the best way to put that action on paper. We had Joe’s narration clearly falling short on details and the impact that all this had on him. I tried a few times to draw Joe’s face, but it wasn’t working. He’s a stoic bastard, so he wouldn’t be all weeping and rending his garments. But an impassive face didn’t look at all like I wanted. So I got up from my desk, took a walk around the room, and tried to imagine what he felt like, reading that note, in an empty apartment. I actually started to cry, which made me laugh, because it’s ridiculous. But when I laughed while I was crying I slumped over a little and leaned an arm up on the wall. Bam. This way your brain fills in Joe’s feelings better than I ever could. Magic.
Poor Joe. I sure hope he kicks some ass soon.
